James A. Dever School is proud to announce that librarian Thomas Mullen won the Jovia Credit Union Funding Your Ideas (FYI) Teacher Grant, marking the fifth year in a row he has earned this honor.
Jovia Credit Union’s FYI Teacher Grant program provides up to $500 to eligible teachers and educators to help bring innovative ideas to life in the classroom. This year, Mr. Mullen applied for the grant in October with a proposal titled “SORA to the Moon and Back.”
The project focused on expanding the school library’s digital collection through SORA, the school’s online reading app. Mr. Mullen was awarded the full $500 grant, which was used to purchase approximately 40 new eBooks for the James A. Dever library. These titles will be owned permanently and will continue to support student learning and literacy for years to come.
“This grant allows us to meet students where they are, online, while encouraging a love of reading,” said Mullen. “Having access to a wider range of digital books ensures all students can find something that excites them.”
Winning the FYI Teacher Grant for five consecutive years underscores Thomas Mullen’s ongoing commitment to innovation, literacy, and student engagement, as well as the continued support of Jovia Credit Union for educators and schools in the community. James A. Dever School extends its gratitude to Jovia Credit Union for investing in education and helping bring creative ideas such as “SORA to the Moon and Back” to life.
