Students Learn New Skills During the Global Hour of Code

December 18, 2017

Valley Stream Union Free School District Thirteen recently organized an opportunity for students from all four of the District’s schools to participate in the Global Hour of Code as part of Computer Science Education Week. The digital event, which took place in more than 45 countries, featured one-hour tutorials of both basic concepts and more advanced coding for students.

The global event is intended to inspire a passion for coding and encourages students to become more involved in computer science throughout their educational experience. The Districts participation in this event was part of its ongoing initiative to help enhance students’ engagement in the subject areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.)
