Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen Board Member Milagros Vincente Honored with N-SSBA Outstanding School Board Service Award

Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen proudly announces that Milagros Vicente, a dedicated member of the school board, has been honored with the prestigious N-SSBA (New York State School Boards Association) Outstanding School Board Service Award for her exemplary commitment to education and community service.

Milagros Vicente was first elected to the Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen School Board in 2016. As a member of the Board, Ms. Vicente has exhibited unparalleled dedication and passion for the betterment of the educational system. Prior to her tenure, she served as a devoted member of the Valley Stream PTA, earning recognition for her outstanding contributions with the PTA’s Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Ms. Vicente’s advocacy extends beyond the confines of educational institutions. As the mother of a child with cerebral palsy, she is a fervent advocate for the protection and advancement of children with special needs. Her tireless efforts in this regard have earned her acclaim from Nassau County, where she was presented with an Advocate Citation Award. In addition to her invaluable contributions to education and special needs advocacy, Ms. Vicente is deeply involved in various community organizations. She serves as the president of the Advisory Board of the Nassau County Office of Hispanic Affairs, leveraging her leadership skills to empower and uplift the Hispanic community. 

Furthermore, Ms. Vicente is a co-founder of the Valley Stream Latino Society, a pivotal organization dedicated to promoting cultural awareness and inclusivity. Her commitment to community service extends to her involvement in the Police Commissioner’s Community Council and various other civic engagements. Her multifaceted leadership and unwavering dedication have left an indelible mark on the Valley Stream community and beyond.
