Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen Celebrates Board Members

November 3, 2022

(OCTOBER 2022)—The New York State School Boards Association recognizes Monday, October 17 to Friday, October 21 as School Board Recognition Week. Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen celebrated its Board of Education members at the District’s last board meeting on Tuesday, October 25.

“On behalf of the entire Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen family, I would like to thank our school Board members for their commitment to our students and their unwavering advocacy for a comprehensive, inclusive, and equitable education for all in our schools,” said Dr. Judith LaRocca, Superintendent of Schools. “Our Board members are selfless individuals who devote countless hours of their time to ensure our students receive the best education possible.”

The key work of school boards is to raise student achievement by creating a shared vision for the future of education, setting the direction of the school district to achieve the highest student performance, providing accountability for student achievement results, developing a budget that aligns the District resources to improve achievement, and supporting a healthy school culture in which to work and to learn.

Two students from each of the Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen Schools represented their school building as they read a poem and presented each Board member with a decorated clay bowl they created during their art class.
