Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen proudly honored Veterans Day with meaningful celebrations across its schools, recognizing the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those who have served our nation.
At Willow Road Elementary School, students, staff, and families gathered for a special Veterans Day assembly. The community had the privilege of welcoming guest speaker George Catalanotto from the VFW and DAV, who shared a powerful message about service and patriotism. Students learned what it means to be a veteran and had the opportunity to meet and thank heroes from the Air Force, Marines, Army, and other branches of the military. The event was filled with pride and energy, highlighted by a spirited push-up contest that brought smiles and cheers throughout the gym.
Howell Road Elementary School students showed their gratitude through creative displays, including a large “Thank You Veterans” sign accompanied by a beautifully designed American flag made of students’ hand cut-outs, each representing a pledge of appreciation and respect. These events served as a powerful reminder of the values of courage, commitment, and community. Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen extends heartfelt thanks to all veterans for their service and sacrifice.
