Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen Participates in P.S. I Love You Day

March 6, 2023

(MARCH 2023)—Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen Schools highlighted the importance of mental health awareness and anti-bullying on P.S. I Love You Day. This day is observed annually on the second Friday of February. Participants are encouraged to wear purple to show a visual unified message.

“At Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen, we focus on our students’ emotional and mental well-being as much as on their academics,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Judith LaRocca. “P.S. I Love You Day serves as an opportunity to highlight the importance of mental health. We want to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.”

In observing P.S. I Love You Day, Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen schools participated in various activities and meaningful classroom lessons. In art class, students created small pieces that represent kindness and acceptance.  Kindness grams were given out and P.S. I Love You Day bulletin boards were filled with purple heart-shaped post-it notes with positive messages. Students were encouraged to write what they love about themselves and their teachers and fellow peers.
