Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen Recognized With Community of Excellence in Visual Arts by NYSATA

April 20, 2026

Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen has been named a Community of Excellence in Visual Arts by the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA), a distinguished recognition that highlights the district’s outstanding commitment to arts education.

This honor is awarded to school districts that demonstrate exceptional support for visual arts programming, including strong curriculum development, student engagement, community involvement, and advocacy for the arts. Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen was selected for its dedication to fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression across all grade levels.

“This recognition reflects the passion and dedication of our teachers and the enthusiasm of our students,” said Janis Boremski, Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen Coordinator of Fine Arts.  “We are proud to offer a program that inspires creativity and celebrates artistic achievement.”

Through a comprehensive visual arts program, students in the district have opportunities to explore a wide range of artistic media and techniques while developing their individual artistic voices. The district also emphasizes the importance of integrating the arts into the broader educational experience, ensuring that creativity remains a vital component of student learning.

District leaders credited the achievement to the collaborative efforts of talented art educators, supportive administrators, and an engaged community that values the role of the arts in education.

The New York State Art Teachers Association honors only a select number of districts each year, making this award a significant accomplishment for Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen.
