February 17, 2023

(FEBRUARY 2022)—Valentine’s Day is an excellent opportunity to highlight friendship, kindness, and love in schools. Students in Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen were busy celebrating the day through various activities and classroom lessons.

Howell Road Elementary School pre-kindergarten students celebrated Valentine’s Day by decorating pizza boxes to collect Valentine’s Day cards. Salvatore’s of Elmont, a family-owned Italian restaurant, donated 100 boxes for the students to use. The Kindness Club decorated doors with positive messages.

Wheeler Avenue Elementary School students celebrated the day of love by wearing pink and red to school. Students watched videos and read stories around the theme of Valentine’s Day.

Older students at Willow Road Elementary School buddied up with the school’s youngest learners to craft Valentines for Veterans cards to spread love, and kindness, and show appreciation to the Veterans.

At James A. Dever Elementary School, students shared what they love about their class on heart-shaped messages. The student council also surprised their classmates with positive words of encouragement.
