Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen Wraps Up a Memorable 2025 Summer Recreation Program

August 8, 2025

Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen is proud to celebrate the successful conclusion of its 2025 Summer Recreation Program—a season filled with laughter, friendship, and unforgettable memories. Held at Wheeler Avenue School, this year’s program welcomed 346 students entering kindergarten through 7th grade, and offered an enriching mix of indoor and outdoor activities designed to engage, inspire, and connect students across the district.

Under the guidance of a dedicated team that included a Summer School Principal, Secretary, Building Director, two Assistant Directors, Counselors, Junior Counselors, and Volunteers, the program ran smoothly and joyfully from start to finish.

Students enjoyed a wide range of exciting activities, from field trips to local favorites like San-Dee Lanes bowling alley and Bee’s Arts and Crafts Studio in Malverne, to in-house favorites like Movie Fridays and the always-popular Bouncer Buddies event. The weekly highlights also included themed events such as Summer Spirit Week, Tournament Week, and Sprinkler Wednesdays, with Marino Ices bringing a refreshing treat every Thursday.

The fun didn’t stop there. The program culminated in a vibrant Summer Showcase, DJ Party, and Carnival that brought the entire VS13 community together for a day of celebration featuring art, music, dancing, face painting, and cotton candy.

“Our Summer Recreation Program truly exemplifies the heart of the Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen community,” said Dr. Amanda King, Summer School Principal. “ It allows students to engage in experiences that foster student connection with grade-level peers across the district. It has been such a pleasure to be a part of such a meaningful program and an absolute joy watching our students grow.”

Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen thanks all staff, families, and community members who contributed to making this summer one to remember. We look forward to continuing this tradition of connection, creativity, and fun for years to come.
