Valley Stream Union Free School District Thirteen Introduces Live Streaming Feature

February 2, 2018

The Valley Stream Union Free School District Thirteen recently launched a live streaming feature to the District website, providing a platform for community members unable to attend District events an opportunity to view these events remotely. The live stream link, located near the top, right-side of the District website homepage, is the latest development in a series of technological advancements the District has introduced in recent years.

“The District is proud to announce the implementation of live streaming, a feature that will serve to enhance community engagement and provide opportunities for those with conflicting schedules to participate in significant happenings in our District,” stated Superintendent of Schools Dr. Constance Evelyn. “The introduction of live streaming marks yet another step the District has taken to develop a presence online that is efficient, informative and user-friendly.”

The new feature will be utilized during Districtwide events including Board of Education meetings, student concerts and end-of-year moving-up and graduation ceremonies. The District plans to expand the use of this feature in the coming months to live stream a growing number of events throughout the school year. Live streaming can also be accessed on the mobile version of the District’s website.

“As the internet has become the dominant medium for communication in recent decades, it is imperative that educational institutions exercise all online offerings to better serve their respective communities,” added Director of Technology, Andrea DiMango. “We are excited for the Valley Stream community to begin utilizing this new technology—providing busy parents and community members an insight into our District they might not otherwise be able to obtain.”

All previous live streamed videos can be viewed in the ‘Video on Demand Library’ located on the live streaming site.
