(January 2021)—Robert Sun, inventor of the First In Math online program designed to help students hone their math skills, recently announced the top ten schools in New York State for First In Math rankings. Three schools from the Valley Stream Union Free School District Thirteen placed in the top ten. Howell Road Elementary School came in fourth place, Wheeler Avenue Elementary School took seventh place and James A. Dever Elementary School earned the ninth spot amongst all schools in the state.
“The fact that three of our schools placed in the top ten is wonderful, but not surprising,” said Dr. Constance Evelyn, Superintendent of Valley Stream Union Free School District Thirteen. “Our teachers are incredible mentors to our students. Teaching in our District is not just simply about putting out information to our students but inspiring them. Our teachers are nurturing a love of learning in their students and developing students who embrace new challenges. This is wonderful recognition for our schools and a testament to the dedication and hard work of our teachers and administrators.”
