Willow Road Elementary School, part of the Valley Stream Union Free School District Thirteen, recently participated in the annual March of Dimes Halloween WonderWalk. The event, which has been a Halloween tradition at Willow Road Elementary since 2006, offers educators and parents the opportunity to teach young students about the value of volunteering. Students and their families, teachers and other staff march in their costumes while collecting donations. All funds raised will help March of Dimes fund research and community programs to help all babies get a healthy start in life.
The March of Dimes’s WonderWalk helps children experience what may be their first opportunity to become a volunteer and learn about the mission of the March of Dimes along with the value of helping others. Willow Road students will be raising donations for the March of Dimes over the coming weeks. The money raised helps fund research, education and advocacy to improve the health of mothers and babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
