Valley Stream UFSD Thirteen’s Willow Road Elementary School recently hosted its first Multicultural Night, celebrating the various backgrounds and cultures of its students and families. The event featured food, music, dance, and art from around the world, with students and families sharing their traditions and customs with the school community.
“We are thrilled to have hosted our first Multicultural Night and to have celebrated the rich diversity of our school community. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students and families to share their traditions and to learn from one another,” said Rosalie Ambrosio, Principal of Willow Road Elementary School. “Special thanks to all of our parents and families for volunteering their time and making this event so exciting for our students.”
The evening began with a parade of students marching around the school’s gymnasium carrying flags and wearing clothing that represented their unique cultures. The cultural displays showcased artifacts, clothes, artwork, food, and flags from different countries. Families and students were encouraged to visit different tables to experience and learn about the different traditions and customs represented by the diversity of students in the school.
