Valley Stream Union Free School District Thirteen’s Willow Road Elementary School recently participated in Valentines for Veterans—a heartwarming program, in partnership with Town of Hempstead Councilman Bruce Blakeman, aimed at celebrating Valentine’s Day while lifting the spirits of local veterans.
Students in kindergarten through sixth grade spent time creating their own unique valentine cards that expressed their gratitude for the brave contributions of veterans throughout the community. These uplifting and heartfelt messages will be distributed by the Town of Hempstead to veterans in local hospitals and nursing homes. The District emphasizes community engagement for its students, and Valentine’s for Veterans provides an opportunity for the kids to connect with individuals outside the school while harnessing their creativity.
